In the wave of urbanization in China, Chengdu's eastward development is writing a new chapter. On July 29, more than 20 representatives from overseas Chinese media visited Chengdu Eastern New Area to gain first-hand insight into the development momentum of this vibrant region.
As the "youngest" new area in Chengdu, Chengdu Eastern New Area has, since its establishment in April 2020, become a key platform for Chengdu to overcome topographical constraints and expand urban space. With the accelerated construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, Chengdu Eastern New Area, which focuses on high-end manufacturing, has emerged as a key hub for synergistic connectivity between Chengdu and Chongqing. It not only hosts cutting-edge industries such as new energy vehicles, aviation manufacturing, and biomedicine but also integrates smart city and digital technologies into transportation, energy, and public services, providing residents with an efficient, convenient smart lifestyle. Relying on Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, the Eastern New Area is accelerating its integration into the global network and emerging as a new gateway for opening-up and cooperation in China's inland regions.

On the 29th, the overseas Chinese media representatives visited Jianzhou New Town in Chengdu Eastern New Area. Standing on the viewing platform of Longma Lake Park, they overlooked the panorama of Jianzhou New Town, where modern office buildings complement the undulating lines of the Longquan Mountains, creating a delightful scene. "There isn't a single chimney in sight here," sighed Chen Xuedong, editor-in-chief of the Czech-Chinese Journal in the Czech Republic.
In fact, Jianzhou New Town is exploring a path of innovation-driven development. In terms of industries, Jianzhou New Town is focusing on emerging sectors such as intelligent manufacturing equipment, new energy and connected and intelligent vehicles, new energy and clean energy equipment, future transportation, digital intelligence, and advanced energy technologies, striving to build a modern industrial system that integrates advanced manufacturing and producer services. Up to now, it has successfully attracted 3 "chain-leading enterprises" (industry-leading enterprises that drive industrial chains) and 24 industrial chain supporting projects.

It is understood that Jianzhou New Town is one of the five functional zones in the Chengdu Eastern New Area. In addition to Jianzhou New Town, Chengdu Eastern New Area has also established Airport New Town, focusing on aviation maintenance, manufacturing, and air logistics; Future Medical New Town, centering on biomedicine and medical services; Future Sci-Tech New Town, dedicated to empowering industries through technological innovation; and Tianfu Olympic Park, focusing on culture, tourism, and sports.
Currently, Chengdu Eastern New Area is showcasing its urban charm by seizing the opportunity of 2025 World Games. The Sancha Lake Water Sports Venue will host four water events. Known as the “Pearl of Tianfu”, the lake covers a water area of 27 square kilometers and will serve as an ideal venue for athletes' competitions. Du Bingyu, deputy editor-in-chief of the Jian Hua Daily, praised it: "The lake is vast and the water quality is excellent. I believe it will help athletes achieve their best performance."

A representative from Chengdu Eastern New Area noted that through low-carbon practices throughout the entire event cycle, they will promote the conversion of event resources into multiple values, including education and livelihood benefits, and accelerate the pace of building a green city. This vibrant land east of the Longquan Mountains is emerging as the most dynamic growth engine in Chengdu. (End)
