(ECNS) -- As China places greater emphasis on developing its private economy, especially the robot industry, more companies have gained government support in facilities, talent, and funding to achieve innovative results.
In a recent interview, Hengbot co-founder Kang Xiaohu introduced their quadruped robot series, "Sirius," the first domestically developed small-scale robot with a highly biomimetic design.
While many companies are focusing on humanoid robots, Hengbot has chosen a different path—miniaturization and emotional companionship.
Kang stated that with the development of Sirius, Hengbot has also pioneered motion control algorithms and an advanced core control module. These technologies enable smoother and more natural robotic movement, making Sirius one of the most agile and emotionally expressive quadruped robots of its size.
The company has developed an extensive library of pre-programmed actions. Using AI-driven analysis, Sirius can detect specific scenarios such as recognizing its owner's emotions or signature gestures and respond accordingly, enhancing human-robot interaction.
The development of Sirius has been bolstered by strong government support, direct investment assistance. Next, authorities would assist the company in manufacturing, talent development, and industrial implementation.
Kang said that access to facilities, skilled professionals, and financial backing has been instrumental in the growth of the country's robotics sector.
Comparing globally, Kang highlighted that China's key industrial advantage lies in its full industrial supply chain. A complete ecosystem supporting research and manufacturing enables rapid transformation from concept to product.
Kang said that some foreign robotics manufacturers also visit China to seek corresponding solutions.
Based in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, Hengbot Innovation Ltd. was established in 2022. It is renowned for its quadruped robot series "Sirius", which was reported by CCTV in the year's "two sessions."
